The Essenaries
“Vessels of the First-Born Cursed Spirits”
Essenaries Application Form: [LINK]
We are currently accepting applications for the Vampire Essenarie.
What Are the Essenaries?
The Essenaries are rare and sacred figures within the Badlands; vessels who carry within themselves the essence of the First-Born Spirits of the cursed castes.
Nimra, the First Werewolf, whose howl broke the wild moon.
Aurora, the First Werecat, whose twilight eyes saw futures untold.
The Forgotten One, the First Vampire, whose true name was stricken from memory.
Each Essenarie is chosen not by bloodline alone, but by fate. Their existence is hidden, their movements veiled, and their role preserved in whispers and rituals. They are not mere leaders or warriors, they are the living balance between the cursed and the mortal.
Role Within the Badlands
The Essenaries serve a singular, perilous purpose:
They hold the means to return a member of the cursed castes (Vampire, Werewolf, Werecat) back to their human state.
This process is not simple. It requires time, trust, and a deep weaving of spirit and will. The Essenaries are not healers in the common sense, nor do they grant their gift freely. To approach one is to step into a role of profound consequence; for the rite they perform is as dangerous as it is transformative.
How It Works In-Character (IC)
Characters seeking to be freed of their curse must first find the Essenaries in-character through story, rumour, and role-play.
Once discovered, they will be expected to learn about the Essenaries’ nature, traditions, and role directly through interaction.
The transformation requires role-played steps and rituals led by the Essenaries. This will not be quick, nor guaranteed, and carries narrative risk.
The outcome of the role-play, once completed, may allow the cursed to be restored to humanity.
How It Works Out-of-Character (OOC)
Once the role-play with the Essenaries has been concluded, and a character has been returned to human, the player must:
Open a Lore Ticket.
Provide a summary of the role-play and outcome.
Allow the Lore Team to record and confirm the change.
This ensures that transformations are documented, consistent, and integrated into the ongoing history of the Badlands.
Important Notes
The process cannot be bypassed; the Essenaries must be involved through proper in-character role-play.
The transformation is rare, dangerous, and not guaranteed. Not all who seek the Essenaries’ aid will survive or succeed.
The decision to attempt such a path should be weighed carefully; it is one of the most profound journeys available to a cursed character.
Closing
The Essenaries embody both salvation and risk. They are the bridge between the cursed bloodlines and the humanity that was lost. To find them is rare. To trust them is dangerous. To walk away from them changed is a story that may echo long after the blood has stilled.
