    • Douglas Gray and Lucille Braithwaite conspire to steal large sums of gold from their families to fund the abolition of slavery.

    • The Grays and Braithwaites, each believing that the other family had their missing gold, begin a blood feud that still endures.

    • The Saint Denis Times Tribune newspaper is founded in Saint Denis.

    • The Mexican-American War concludes, with the United States of America victorious over the Mexican Republic. Fort Mercer is abandoned overtime.

  • 1861

    • The American Civil War begins. Lemoyne is one of several states that seceded from the United States to form the Confederate States of America.

    • Valentine Savings Bank opens in Valentine.

    • Saint Denis Railway Station opens in Saint Denis.

  • 1863

    • 30 March: A Confederate charge led by Major Hobary Crawley is routed by Union troops, resulting in the deaths of 3,202 Confederate soldiers. Major Crawley is the only survivor.

    • The batter is later memorialized with a status in Rhodes.

  • 1864

    • The Battle of Scarlett Meadows occurs at Bolger Glade in Lemoyne. Despite suffering massive casualties, Confederate troops successfully repel a major Union Army offensive.

  • 1865

    • The American Civil War concludes, with the Union victorious over the Confederacy.

    • Lemoyne and other seceded states are subsequently readmitted to the United States of America.

  • 1866

    • Otis Miller and his gang commit the first train robbery in history.

  • 1867

    • The town of Annesburg, a coal mining settlement first built by German settlers around the turn of the century, is incorporated.

    • The first transcontinental railroad was built.

    • The Rift: The Day the Sky Split - Supernatural creatures entered through the Rift for the first time.


      1870 - 1879

    • A New Reality - The first battles raged for several months, forever changing the landscape.

      • Supernatural beings started to carve out their own territories and trying to create a foothold within the lands amongst the human population.

      • Refugees from Darraknoir also started to appear amidst the chaos, siding with humanity in their struggles against the forces of darkness.

    • The start of the “Picturesque Period”.

    • The Saint Denis Police Department headquarters is built.

  • 1871

    • The veil between the two worlds became strained and thin, and during the night smaller rifts started to open and Riftwalkers started to slip through into the surrounding world. Humanity started to create fortifications around the towns and settlements to ward off these near-nightly incursions and vigilance became a way of life.

    • The Veilguard made their first steps into the lands, coming to the aid of humanity as they always have.

    • Dubonnet Musical Instruments is established.

  • 1874

    • The Lemoyne Raiders are founded.

  • 1876

    • The lands of this Western Frontier became, for a time, known as the “Riftlands”, a place where the mundane and the magical collided, where every night brought new dangers, and where the struggle for survival was unending.

    • By this point, magic had seemed into the world through the rifts from Darraknoir and changes started to rapidly become noticed within the lands. Time moved differently now and some folk started to be able to harness the magic to form spells and incantations.

    • The foundation of the International Order of Arcanists.

    • After a bloody coup, Francisco Ramirez Torres becomes President of Mexico.

  • 1879

    • The Crimson Era: A Time of Rebuilding and Unity.

      • The reconstruction of towns and settlements were started.

      • The foundation of the Badlands Historic Society.

      • Treaties between various supernatural caste leaders and the ruling human population were signed.

        1880 - 1889

    • The Revolution - Civil unrest reached a tipping point as the population grew increasingly disillusioned with the oppressive government due to its often human-centric policies. Breaking out into a civil war within the lands.

    • The Fall of the Government - After months of widespread protests, skirmishes, and eventual full-scale conflicts, the citizens rose against the government and the regime was overthrown and its leaders were forced into exile. This led to a period of uncertainty and instability.

    • Blackwater Hotel and Restaurant is established.

  • 1881

    • The Peacekeepers were formed.

    • MacFarlane’s Ranch is established by Drew MacFarlane on unsettled land.

  • 1882

    • Statehood: The Badlands were formed as a stand-alone state.

  • 1883

    • Several large snowstorms hit the Grizzlies.

    • August: Pleasance is founded.

    • 17 September: The Pleasence Massacre occurs, leaving 10 dead.

    • An eclipse occurred.

    • The Great Storm of 1884 takes place in Ambarino, resulting in the abandonment of Colter.

  • 1886

    • 3rd Street Hardware opens in Blackwater.

    • Miracle Horse Reviver is invented.

    • The Prancing Fox Brand, a company selling socks, is established.

    • The O’Driscoll Boys are founded.

    • The Panic of 1893 begins, resulting in people selling gold to the US Treasure.

    • The Cornwall City Railway was established by Leviticus Cornwall.

    • Charles Kinnear invents the manned glider.

  • 1894

    • The Turbinia is unveiled in the United Kingdom which is later bought by Leviticus Cornwall. A Modern Steam Marvel.

    • The end of the “Picturesque Period”.

    • 18 October: The Bank of Rhodes under the order of Judge Meredith Holden seized ownership of Compson’s Stead.

  • 1896

    • The National Bureau of Criminal Identification is founded by the National Chiefs of Police Union.

    • The Wapiti Indians sign a treaty with the U.S. Government.

    • The Blackwater Restaurant is established.
